RECORDS MANAGEMENT PRACTICES IN GHANAIAN TERTIARY INSTITUTIONS: A CASE STUDY OF GHANA TECHNOLOGY UNIVERSITY COLLEGE

This study was conducted to ascertain records management practices at the Ghana Communications Technology University (formerly College) a mid-sized Ghanaian public university located in Accra. All staff Admissions and Records departments participated study. comprised two (2) heads of department seven (7) senior from both departments. The face-to-face interviews were employed as data collection instrument for this findings indicated that has neither policy regulate students' nor professional archivist manage records. However, head office given three-day training on assumption office. It revealed admissions, well all departments, had never been any training. There some challenges impeding offices– among them are; lack adequate staff, inadequate storage equipment, periodic training, guide inability students furnish Admission with needed information. recommended should employ student records, provide facilities, organise promulgate offices.
